This article deals with the description of the future of the commercial business in Bahrain. First of all it has to be mentioned that the commercial sector represents a central point in the entire economic development of Bahrain. This means that any change in this sector regarding performance and efficiency will cause and provoke remarkable implications and consequences for the whole economic performance of Bahrain. This is the reason why a flourishing, active and highly dynamic commercial business sector is needed for the country. Strictly speaking the commercial sector has to be centered within all Ministry’s policy and operations.
Regarding the general Ministry organization, comprehensive and very important changes to the basic structure have been made. The reason for the restructuring consisted in the intention to make the Ministry organization more effective in meeting the respective aims and needs of the commercial sector as well as of those of the citizens of Bahrain. Strictly speaking we are talking about a special process that included not only the advancement and support of already existing Directorates in order to make them more efficient, but also the foundation and creation of a variety of new Directorates. These Directorates include those that are necessary to meet new operating areas:
- Directorate of Agencies & Industrial Property
- Directorate of Commercial Registration
- Directorate of Precious Metals & Gem Stone Testing
- Directorate of External Commercial Relations.
In other words the Ministry’s policy and operations were restructured in order to advance and ameliorate the general performance of the Ministry functions. Consequently, the Ministry had the possibility to achieve the overall objectives by meeting different operational capabilities, know-how and general knowledge with the respective and appropriate Directorate.
For the Ministry the legal infrastructure proves to be of great relevance and importance. Concerning this matter the Ministry of Commerce has been highly interested in making sure that the legal framework provides new developments as well as advancements regarding trade, trading relations and general commerce.
