As already mentioned within the article before, the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry has formed a variety of different committees that are responsible for important and essential activities. These committees are basically operating under the guidance of the Board of Directors that is elected once in every four years and does include 18 members. A brief and concise presentation of the most important committees of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, their aims, activities and functions is given below:
The Financial and Economic Committee is in charge of the realization of different studies and general research work. Furthermore it has to organize a variety of seminars and lectures considering the Chamber’s activities. When it comes to the domestic and foreign trade as well as general trading relations, the Financial and Economic Committee has to offer recommendations and suggestions, find possible and realistic ways in order to develop commercial establishments in all sectors.
The Industry Committee gets involved with all industry-related matters. Consequently this Committee is responsible for the publication of different directories, for instance such as industrial establishments on the island Bahrain itself. Furthermore the Industry Committee has to prepare, develop and present an annual report regarding Bahrain’s industry. Its functions do also include the coordination between the general industrial sector and specially selected government authorities as well as the participation in Gulf, Arab and International industry-related seminars, conferences, exhibitions, meetings and congresses.
The Pearls, Gold and Jewellery Committee is in charge of all matters considering the pearl, gold and jewellery profession. Strictly speaking this Committee fosters the development and expansion of the pearl, gold and jewellery industry. It consequently organizes conferences and meetings and does also participate in very special exhibitions such as unions, seminars and conferences that are generally related to the pearl, gold and jewellery industry.
The Food and Agriculture Committee is responsible for the regulation of the general trade of food and products. Its functions do also include the changes of several food and agricultural products that are produced and sold in Bahrain.
